APEC presidency 2025 — Russia has secured backing from China and Vietnam for its bid to chair the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in 2025, according to Russian diplomat Andrey Rudenko. The support signals a notable diplomatic alignment within the regional economic bloc.
Rudenko stated that similar assurances were received during senior officials’ contacts with representatives of ASEAN countries. He added that a number of other delegations have also reacted positively to the Russian proposal.
The bid, if successful, would see Russia leading the 21-member APEC forum, marking a potential shift in the forum’s leadership dynamics.
