Mexico massacre — An Argentine national is suspected of orchestrating a massacre in a luxury apartment in Mexico that resulted in the deaths of four family members and their dog. A six-year-old boy, the sole survivor, reportedly hid under a bed during the attack on Tuesday night (1st).
The victims were identified as 38-year-old musician Jonathan “Honas” Meléndez Ochoa, his 35-year-old wife Ana Paola, who was four months pregnant, their three-year-old daughter, and a 21-year-old nanny. Meléndez, a composer and keyboardist for the Mexican band Camilo Séptimo, and his wife were found bound with tape and shot in the head. The child was also shot in the head, while the nanny was shot in the back as she attempted to flee. The family dog was also killed.
Authorities have arrested two suspects, including Diego Sebastián Rosen Ferlini, 51, who is considered the primary suspect. Reports indicate Ferlini was a business partner of Meléndez in a property rental venture. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum suggested the attack may stem from a family dispute, while investigations are also exploring a potential financial motive related to their business dealings. Ferlini, who holds both Argentine and Mexican citizenship, reportedly had no prior criminal record in Mexico.
