Burkina Faso digital foundations — Wendkouni Georges Évariste Tassembédo has emerged as a leading force in Burkina Faso’s digital transformation, focusing on building the technological infrastructure essential for the country’s digital sovereignty. Over the past 23 years, Tassembédo has worked with companies, government agencies, and major organisations to develop solutions in cybersecurity, data storage, virtualisation, and continuous service operations.
Tassembédo began his career after graduating from the École Supérieure d’Informatique at the University Polytechnic of Bobo-Dioulasso in 2003, earning a degree in computer engineering with a focus on networks and maintenance. He continued to expand his expertise through certifications such as ITIL Foundation and specialised data centre qualifications, as well as advanced degrees in project management and sustainable entrepreneurship. This blend of technical and managerial skills has defined his approach to digital development.
After early roles as a technical sales engineer, Tassembédo joined SOFTNET Burkina, where he advanced to Director of Sales and Marketing. This experience gave him deep insight into the digital needs of public institutions, financial organisations, and private enterprises, laying the groundwork for his own entrepreneurial venture.
In August 2011, Tassembédo founded E-SERVICES SA, which he has led ever since. Under his direction, the company has become a recognised player in Burkina Faso’s IT sector, specialising in data centres, network infrastructure, storage solutions, call centres, and digital project management. E-SERVICES SA also operates a PEARSON VUE-certified training and certification centre, supporting workforce development in the digital sector.
Leadership in the Burkinabè Digital Sector
Tassembédo’s commitment to strengthening the national digital ecosystem took on a new dimension in April 2025, when he was elected President of the Federation of Digital Actors (FED-NUMERIQUE). In this role, he advocates for local digital companies, promotes dialogue with government authorities, and works to foster an environment conducive to innovation. He also serves as Deputy Treasurer of ROPTIC-UEMOA, a regional network of IT professionals, supporting digital cooperation across West Africa.
Throughout his career, Tassembédo has emphasised the importance of training and team development, believing that the success of digital projects depends as much on skilled people as on technology. His ongoing investment in education and quality management reflects a vision for a robust, self-sustaining digital industry in Burkina Faso.
