Putin meet Iranian President — Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet his Iranian counterpart, President Pezeshkian, on the sidelines of a Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit in Turkmenistan, a Kremlin aide announced. The meeting was confirmed by Yuri Ushakov, an assistant to the Russian president, on Tuesday.

The talks are scheduled to take place during the CIS gathering, a regional organization of post-Soviet states. Such bilateral meetings on the margins of multilateral forums are a common diplomatic practice for advancing state-to-state relations.

The planned encounter underscores the continued high-level engagement between Moscow and Tehran, two major players whose strategic partnership has grown more prominent in recent years amid shared geopolitical challenges.
