US sanctions marketplace — The United States has sanctioned a Chinese-language online marketplace, Xinbi Guarantee, for its alleged role in multibillion-dollar fraud schemes targeting Americans. The U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced the sanctions on September 9, 2026, accusing the platform of being used by Chinese and North Korean cybercriminals.
According to the Treasury Department, the illicit marketplace operated on messaging apps and was linked to so-called “scam centers” in Southeast Asia. These centers are reportedly used to orchestrate large-scale financial fraud against U.S. citizens.
The sanctions freeze any of Xinbi Guarantee’s assets under U.S. jurisdiction and prohibit Americans from conducting business with the entity. This action is part of ongoing U.S. efforts to disrupt international financial crime networks, particularly those with alleged ties to North Korea.
